Financial Aid

Chance School offers partial financial aid to those families whose children have been accepted at Chance School and can demonstrate need for financial assistance.  Due to limited dollars, students must be registered in a five-day program for consideration.  Priority is given at the elementary level to achieve full enrollment, gender balance and diversity goals.

A $100 refundable registration fee is required to reserve your child’s spot in the program according to Chance School’s admissions steps and dates, to be followed by additional steps and dates for the financial aid application with FAST – Financial Aid for School Tuition.  In addition, FAST requires payment of a $34 non-refundable application fee and 3-4 weeks to process each application.

Beginning in January, materials for the aid process will be distributed with elementary acceptance packets and mailed to the preschool families having indicated their intent to apply for aid. The next step for an applicant’s family is to complete an application online with FAST and take additional steps as listed in a timely manner; the financial aid service will process only one application per family.

It is important that the required FAST application and supporting documents are submitted to FAST by March 15.   Applicants meeting this deadline will be included in the first-round decisions when maximum funding is available.  Chance School will notify families of financial aid decisions by May 1, once the Financial Aid Committee has reviewed a financial analysis and recommendation from FAST. Financial aid applicants providing required paperwork after this deadline will be considered if funds are still available.

All information submitted for the purpose of making financial aid decisions is strictly confidential. Financial aid decisions are awarded on a year-by-year basis.  All recipients must reapply for each school year in order to be considered for financial assistance.

In addition, COPIES of the following documentation for 2009 are needed to complete your application.  Please send all items requested so that FAST may process your application in a timely manner.  Complete application packets will be processed; incomplete ones will NOT.  FAST will process only one application per family.  Faxed applications will not be accepted. Supporting information can be mailed ONLY.
