Kasey Anderson

Kindergarten/Primary 1 Teacher

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at University of Kentucky and achieved my Master of Science in Education and Reading Specialist License at Indiana University Southeast. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher in literacy. I am in my eighteenth year of teaching; my experience includes kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, and reading interventions.

I am thrilled to be on the amazing and talented K/1 team! I fell in love with Chance from the second I set foot inside the building and witnessed my beliefs as an educator in authentic and real action. I saw children learning to think for themselves, exploring nature while taking risks, caring for and appreciating our earth, and experiencing learning through hands-on activities. Not only did I want my children to be a part of Virginia Chance School's progressive education program, but I also wanted to be a part of this best practice approach. The stars aligned, and the rest is history!

My husband Jeremy and I have two children, Madelynne (8 years old) and Owen (6 years old), both Virginia Chance School students.  We also have two dogs (Max and Molly) and two cats (Penny and Nelly).  I enjoy staying busy in my free time - whether it be playing with my children, taking the dogs for a walk, working on projects around the house with my husband, going on a bike ride, spending time with family, or visiting friends. I love to read, and I especially like to listen to audiobooks while I do my chores or run errands. I enjoy playing games, making crafts, and going on trips (especially to the beach).  I love being a teacher – teaching is my true passion!
