Knowledge and Understanding:
-Have a working knowledge and understanding of child development and developmental milestones, with specific knowledge of 18-36 month old
-Have a working knowledge and understanding of a progressive school approach to curriculum planning, instruction, assessment, and classroom management
-Have an understanding of and agree with the philosophy and mission of Virginia Chance School

Skills:
-Plan and execute developmentally appropriate lesson plans that address all areas of development including; physical,gross & fine motor, cognitive, social, emotional, moral, and language
-Plan and prepare for a safe, engaging, aesthetically pleasing physical classroom space
-Conduct authentic assessments, document and track progress on each child.
-Use and teach 21st Century learning skills
-Maintain records, attendance, lesson plans and additional paperwork for each child
-Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, including communicating with parents through weekly newsletters, conferences, and as needed
-Develop and maintain partnerships with families
-Work effectively and cooperatively with a teaching partner in all aspects of planning, instruction, and assessment
-Work respectfully with all faculty and administrative staff
Grow and develop professionally, learn new skills as needed

Requirements
Part-Time:8:00AM-1:30 PM, 5 days a week
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Early Childhood Education
Master’s degree preferred
Experience working with preschool children
