I am so blessed to be apart of the Virginia Chance team! I have a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Elementary Education with an additional endorsement in Language Arts and Kindergarten from Indiana University. I have had the pleasure of teaching students from preschool to college in both private and public settings for the last 20+ years. I was a laboratory site for Indiana University Southeast Kindergarten Endorsement students, Prime Time Host Teacher for the Indiana Department of Education and the Vice President of Southeast Regional Association for the Education of Young Children.
Preschool children have an innate curiosity about their world. Being able to nourish that curiosity and creativity through projects and active, hands-on learning excites me as a teacher. Student-driven curriculum, interdisciplinary teaching along with the expansive outdoor lab and learning opportunities attracted me most to the Virginia Chance School. I appreciate that students need to be involved in their own learning to become deep thinkers and compassionate about their community.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy gardening, fitness, reading and learning to cook new recipes. I have been married for 26 years to Jeff Wright and we have two boys and a new husky puppy named Oliver that keep us quite busy.
