I am an Elementary Certified Teacher with a Master's degree in Teaching from Bellarmine University and an undergraduate degree from UK in Family Science. Before joining Virginia Chance School, I taught third grade in the Public School system, and I have additional training and experience in Virginia Chance School's Literacy program.
I am excited to be in my second year as a Second/Third Grade teacher and to be teaching in the progressive pedagogy! My first experience with Virginia Chance was as a camp counselor in the summer program, Summer Under the Trees. I had the most fantastic summer exploring, discovering, and learning with students. The atmosphere I encountered among the Virginia Chance community was unlike any other; it was then that I knew I had to be a part of the Virginia Chance family.
I'm looking forward to learning, laughing, and challenging my students this upcoming school year by getting to know who they are and their interests and building on those in creative ways to connect to our curriculum.
When I'm not at school, I love spending time outdoors with my husband, Doug. We like to play sand volleyball, go mountain biking, and travel to see friends all across the country. We have friends that live in the mountains and friends that live in big cities. I enjoy visiting those places, but my favorite place in the world is the beach. My second favorite place is to be at school learning and teaching my students. I love being a teacher, and I love our wonderful school!
