Interim Head of School
I have a BS in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and an MS in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University. After an early career in strategic consulting and product management for large companies, I shifted focus to work with small, lean, mission-driven organizations. An engineer by training, I bring a systems thinking approach to organizations that compliments and catalyzes their domain-specific knowledge and passion of purpose.
I have been working with nonprofits in transition for over ten years as a board leader, advisor, and search committee chair. Most recently I helped lead a local social services organization through a two-plus year effort to welcome a new CEO learning up close the importance and challenge of preparing for new leadership. As Virginia Chance School’s Board Secretary and Treasurer, I worked in partnership with Debbie Houston during her first few years as Head of School to ensure a smooth transition and lay the foundation for years of success.I am thrilled to be VCS’s Interim Head of School. The school has had a formative impact on my Family. When my husband, Ian, and I chose VCS we were looking for a learning environment that valued the social, emotional growth of our children as much as their intellectual development. When we arrived on campus we experienced so much more: a true community of faculty, staff, and families that value the social, emotional growth, and overall well-being of the entire family. For me, the opportunity to use my skills and experience to steer this beloved community through this tricky period feels like the perfect way to give back.
