Fourth/Fifth Grade Teacher
I achieved my Master’s in Professional School Counseling at The University Of The Cumberlands and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Western Kentucky University. I am in my seventh year of teaching, during which I have taught both kindergarten and third grade. I am so excited to be on the intermediate team as a 4th/5th grade teacher here at Virginia Chance this year!
I knew I wanted to be a part of VCS when I heard about their mission and purpose as a progressive school, and seeing their values carried out daily by the faculty and staff just made it clear as to why they stand out in the education field as expertly delivering best practices in education. I knew this would be a place where my own beliefs and values as an educator would be aligned, implemented, and supported. I appreciate the whole child approach and being able to differentiate the needs and strengths to challenge each individual learner. Students are encouraged to take risks and be active thinkers through exploration and hands-on experiences in and out of the classroom. Nature play is valued and honored. I look forward to being a part of this great learning community and growing right alongside my students.
My husband Justin and I have been married for three years now and have just welcomed our baby boy, Wade, into the world this past July. We also have several fur babies, including our two dogs, Rhett and Tuff, as well as three horses and three cats that we love dearly. In my spare time, you can usually find me working on our farm, riding horses, and just being outside in general. I love putting my creativity to use with DIY projects around the house. But what I enjoy most is spending time with those I love. I love teaching, and I love my students; they are some of my greatest blessings.
