Pre-K Teacher

I received my bachelor's degree in human development and family studies with a concentration in infancy and preschool from Auburn University. I worked at an early learning center throughout college, which inspired me to change my degree from marketing to early childhood. I was drawn to children's natural optimism and watching the spark through their problem-solving process. After college, I taught preschool for two years in Alabama before moving to Louisville and finding Chance.

Chance has allowed me to implement foundational progressive education skills I feel passionate about, such as hands-on, play-based learning, and collaborative problem-solving. Albert Einstein once said, "Play is the highest form of research." This resonated with me and has shown to be true throughout my ongoing journey at Chance. Giving children the opportunity to explore and research in this beautiful environment Chance School has built has helped me grow as an individual alongside my class each year.

Going into my third year at Chance, I've witnessed children take ownership of the outdoor space this school provides, resulting in them learning how to care for the environment and each other and adding to the foundation of social-emotional learning.

When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes my husband of two years, Nic, our daughter, Lucy, and our dog, Carlos. We spend much of our time outdoors, walking, going to the park, and soaking up the sunshine. All of my family still lives in Alabama, so we travel often. This has allowed us to share our love for traveling with Lucy, which makes it even more special. I dream of the days when Lucy starts her journey at Chance, and I get to witness, through my own child's eyes, all the magic that takes place here.
