Lucinda Ritter

Third/Fourth Grade Teacher

I have a Master’s Degree in special education from the University of Northern Colorado and earned my teacher certification from the University of Colorado in Boulder. My undergraduate degree is from Miami University of Ohio in international studies.

I am a certified Orton Gillingham reading specialist and have received training in the Reggio Emilia Approach from the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre in Italy. I started my teaching career twenty-one years ago and have taught at the preschool, lower elementary, and upper elementary levels as a general educator and a special educator.

I started teaching in the preschool program at Chance School and have now moved to the elementary program. I am so pleased to have found a school that fosters whole child education, social-emotional learning, and a progressive approach to education.

The philosophy at Chance School supports components that I value in my teaching practice: creative expression, providing choice in a workshop model, and fostering an environment where students can reach their full potential. In addition, I love the community that is created within our classrooms and with our Chance School families.

After school, I enjoy hiking, exercising, spending time with family and friends, and traveling and learning languages. I am relatively new to Louisville and enjoy exploring all that the city has to offer.
