Kindergarten/Primary 1 Teacher
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at University of Kentucky, and achieved my Master of Science in Education and Reading Specialist License at Indiana University Southeast. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher in literacy. This is my sixteenth year of teaching and my experience includes kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, and reading interventions.
I am thrilled to be on the amazing and talented K/1 team! I toured Virginia Chance School as a parent. I fell in love from the second I set foot inside the building and witnessed my beliefs as an educator in action. Not only did I want my children to be a part of Virginia Chance School, I wanted to be a part of it, too. The stars aligned and the rest is history!
I live in Goshen with my husband Jeremy. We have two children, Madelynne (6 years old) and Owen (4 years old). We also have an eleven-year-old Chocolate Lab named Lucy and two cats named Penny and Nelly. I enjoy staying busy in my free time - whether it be playing with my children, taking the dog for a walk, working on projects around the house with my husband, spending time with family, or visiting friends. I love to read…I especially like to listen to audiobooks while I do my chores or run errands. I like to play games, make crafts, and go on trips (especially to the beach). I love being a teacher – teaching is my true passion!
