Lee Receveur

Technology Specialist

I received my Masters of Science in Education from Indiana University and my undergraduate degree in English and Secondary Education from Southern Methodist University. In addition to my masters program, I completed the Graduate Reading License Program and am a certified Reading Specialist.

I began my teaching career as a 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts teacher in the public schools and have spent the last three years in an independent school in the technology department, where I was the Chromebook Coordinator. My primary responsibilities were to oversee the middle school 1-1 Chromebook program, collaborate with teachers and assist with Chromebook integration in the classroom, and I also started the Technology Leaders in the Classroom (TLC) program which promotes student leadership through technology.

My experiences in the classroom and as a technology resource have taught me the importance of empowering students to explore the classroom and the world around them while equipping them with the skills to problem solve and use critical thinking. A language arts teacher at the core, I see the importance of embedding reading and writing in all we do and strive to elevate student voice every day. I hope my energy and enthusiasm towards my content and the learning process inspires my students and makes my classroom fun.

I have two children who attend Chance School, Lucy in the Kindergarten and William in the Threes, and my husband and I are both Virginia Chance School alumni! I volunteer in the NICU at Norton Women's and Children’s Hospital to provide support to families in the NICU and encourage them on their journey once they are home. I am excited to continue this new chapter as the Technology Specialist and look forward to being a part of the beautiful learning and discovery that takes place every day at Virginia Chance School.
