Kammeon Holsey

Kammeon Holsey brings an exceptional combination of athletic achievement, educational leadership, student mentorship, and program-building experience to his role as Athletic Director at Virginia Chance School.

 

Originally from Georgia, Kammeon attended Georgia Tech on a full basketball scholarship, where he earned his bachelor’s degree before continuing his basketball career professionally in the NBA G League and overseas for six years. His experience as a collegiate and professional athlete gives him a deep understanding of discipline, preparation, teamwork, resilience, leadership, and the powerful role athletics can play in a child’s development.

 

Kammeon’s work with young people has always extended beyond sports performance. During his professional playing career, he offered life skills and basketball clinics for children and student-athletes of all ages. He has helped more than 50 young people pursue college opportunities and trade pathways, reflecting his belief that athletics should help children grow not only as players, but as confident, capable, and purposeful individuals.

 

With more than 10 years of experience as a PE teacher and Athletic Director across elementary, middle, and high school settings, Kammeon brings both vision and practical experience to Chance. As a certified athletic development specialist, he focuses on long-term athletic development, age-appropriate skill-building, physical literacy, and helping students develop confidence in how they move, compete, collaborate, and lead. His approach is grounded in the belief that a strong elementary athletic and PE program should build foundations that serve children for life.

 

At Chance, Kammeon is focused on strengthening both the athletic program and the physical education experience through clear expectations, strong communication, thoughtful coaching, high participation, and a positive school culture. His priorities include education-based athletics, coach development, parent communication, student confidence, and meaningful opportunities for children to grow on and off the field or court.

 

Kammeon’s path to education was shaped by his parents, who were both teachers and coaches. Watching the positive impact they had on students inspired him to pursue work that supports children, families, and communities. He is also inspired by his wife and the way she helps set a foundation of care, consistency, and high expectations in their home with their five children; values he brings into his work with students every day.

 

His philosophy of elementary PE centers on whole-child development, meaningful movement, and a lifelong love of health and fitness. He believes children should be encouraged to try, practice, improve, lead, support one another, and experience the joy of being active. Whether a student is highly competitive, still developing confidence, or simply discovering what they enjoy, Kammeon wants every child to feel seen, challenged, and supported.

 

Kammeon is excited to be part of the Chance community and sees Virginia Chance School as a place where students can grow in mind, body, confidence, and character. He and his family are grateful to be part of the school and look forward to calling Chance home for years to come.
