Caring for children has been a natural passion of mine since I was a child myself. I looked forward to motherhood from a young age, which inspired me to choose a career that reflected similar aspects. I grew up in Michigan and left for college in Kentucky, where my parents grew up and where I always loved visiting when we would
go see relatives. I graduated with honors Cum Laude, from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor's of Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education, minoring in Special Education. After graduation, I worked for eight years at a Reggio-inspired child development center here in Louisville, which provided opportunity for deeper learning and experience with progressive education. When I heard about Chance School from a fellow teacher, I could see that it was the type of school that would resonate with even more of the foundations I believed in as an educator. I decided to take the leap to a place where I felt I was best suited for me and my children.

I believe children learn best through interest-based play, in a nature-rich environment that pays special attention to their individual strengths and learning styles. What I have loved most about Chance is the beautifully curated environment that achieves exactly this. Neither a child's nor a teacher's day at Chance is 'cookie'cutter'. Wonder, learning, and self-growth are abundant through play and exploration. The unique nature-immersed environment adds a layer to our school day that can only be described as magical and only fully understood once experienced.

My hope as a teacher and mother is to instill confidence, independence, resiliency, and kindness within the lives of children. These social-emotional skills will foster academic learning and success not only now, but also far into adulthood. I have two children, both of whom carry their happiest school memories from VCS. The three of us, along with our sweet, old dog, have recently returned from living overseas in Italy for a couple of years.

I look forward to getting back in the arms of the incredible Chance family. If I'm lucky enough to have your child in my class, you will notice photography is one of my hobbies. You can also find me in the local Latin dance scene, gardening, hiking, and baking sweets.
