Olivia Nalley

Advancement Director

I am the Advancement Director at Virginia Chance School, where I lead the school's efforts across enrollment strategy, giving, and the overall family experience. My work brings together enrollment management, philanthropy, marketing, and communications to support the school's long-term sustainability and growth.

At the heart of my role is the full family and community journey- from first inquiry to long-term engagement and giving. I oversee enrollment strategy, marketing, and communications, and lead advancement efforts, including donor engagement and philanthropic support. My goal is to ensure that every interaction with the school reflects the same warmth, clarity, and intentionality found in our classrooms.

As both an alumna and a parent of a Chance graduate, this work is deeply personal. I've seen firsthand how the school nurtures bright, motivated learners. The curriculum goes beyond strong academics, offering enhanced opportunities for higher-order thinking, creativity, and social-emotional growth. The engaging lessons, supportive two-teacher environment, and nature-based approach helped my child deepen his critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership skills- building on his strengths and preparing him to thrive among his peers in an ever-changing world. That experience shapes how I approach both enrollment and advancement: building meaningful relationships with families who value depth, curiosity, and a strong sense of community.

One resource I’ve found meaningful in this work is Raising Mentally Strong Kids by Dr. Daniel Amen, Dr. Charles Fay, and colleagues. We often share it with families- not as a requirement, but as a way to reflect on how we support children in becoming confident, resilient, and thoughtful individuals.

In my role, I work closely with senior leadership and across all departments to align enrollment, advancement, and school priorities; ensuring a cohesive and welcoming experience for families while strengthening the school's future. My background in visual storytelling and brand strategy informs how I communicate the value of a Chance education while supporting both enrollment and giving initiatives.

I am grateful for the trust of our leadership team, colleagues, and our lovely families, and I value listening as much as leading. Please feel free to reach out to me.

Outside of school, I enjoy time with my husband Joe and our son, exploring Louisville’s hiking paths, restoring our old yard, and sewing vintage felt appliqué kits- quiet, creative work I truly love.
