Nicole McKendrick

Community Engagement Coordinator

I hold a M.A. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisville and a bachelor’s in Art History and English Writing. Over the past decade, I have worked in college admissions at two-and-four-year institutions. During this time, I facilitated a multi-institutional faculty engagement program, coordinated large scale admissions events, and taught developmental college courses for KCTCS.

Our family has been part of Virginia Chance School since our daughter was two years old. From the very beginning, the Chance community has embraced not only her, but our whole family. Over the years, my husband joined the VCS Board, our daughter moved into Elementary, and I began working in Community Engagement with the school. Along the way, we’ve built lifelong friendships and found a deep sense of belonging within this community.

These experiences have profoundly shaped and inspired my work as Community Engagement Coordinator. I love welcoming new and returning families to campus, connecting parents with classroom life, hosting community events and volunteer opportunities, and helping make Chance feel like home for everyone.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family outdoors, wrangling our small pack of pets, serving as a foster care and adoption advocate, and being in the mountains.
