Parents and caregivers of third- and fourth-grade students are invited to join us for Fifth Grade Look Ahead, a special presentation exploring the culminating year at Chance and the learning that prepares children for it.
At Virginia Chance School, each elementary year builds on the curiosity, confidence, and resilience students have developed along the way. Our progressive elementary program deepens academic understanding, strengthens collaboration and independence, and engages children in joyful, challenging learning through fifth grade.
Hayley Abell, Director of Elementary Programs, will begin with a brief look at the foundations established in Kindergarten through second grade, then explore how the third- and fourth-grade experiences prepare students for fifth grade. Most of our time will focus on the fifth-grade year, including how our teachers approach literacy and math instruction, student assessment, higher-order thinking, social-emotional growth, and developmentally appropriate challenge.
Whether fifth grade is just around the corner or another year ahead, this is a meaningful opportunity to understand how growing expectations and purposeful experiences prepare your child to make the most of this final year at Chance.
Join us for a look inside the learning, relationships, and thoughtful program design that bring the Chance elementary journey together. Bring your questions!
