At Virginia Chance School, each year builds on the experiences that came before it. This November, two Look Ahead events will help families see those connections and better understand the opportunities ahead for their children.
Led by Hayley Abell, Director of Elementary Programs, each presentation will explore the Kindergarten-through-fifth-grade journey, with a different emphasis for families approaching different milestones.
Kindergarten Look Ahead
Wednesday, November 11 | 9:15–10:45 a.m.
Designed especially for parents of Preschool 3s and Preschool 4s (Pre-K), this presentation will begin with a glimpse of fifth grade and work back toward Kindergarten. Most of the session will focus on the Kindergarten experience, including how children build on their preschool foundation as readers, mathematicians, collaborators, and increasingly independent learners.
Families will gain a clearer picture of both the next step and the larger elementary journey.

Fifth Grade Look Ahead
Thursday, November 12 | 9:15–10:45 a.m.
Designed especially for third- and fourth-grade parents, this presentation will begin with a brief look at the foundations established in Kindergarten through second grade, then explore how learning develops through third and fourth grades toward the fifth-grade experience.
With most of the session devoted to fifth grade, families will learn how the years and months leading up to it prepare students for greater academic challenge, independence, collaboration, and responsibility.

Both events will take place at Virginia Chance School, 4200 Lime Kiln Lane. All Chance families are welcome to attend the presentation that interests them.
