Brookes Pope
Brookes Pope is mother to Abigail, a rising 10th grader and Peter, a rising 8th grader – both alums of Virginia Chance School. She serves on the VCS Board with deep leadership and experience in all areas of non-profit management and development. Currently a community volunteer, she served as Chance’s Director of Development from 2014-2018, where she led all areas of Development for Chance including all fund-raising activities (Challenge, Auction, etc.) as well as maintained active and productive relationships with donors.
Prior to working at VCS, Brookes spent 10 years working in Washington, DC in various levels of non-profit Development leadership, focused on providing direction and management of all phases of complex proposal development processes for private foundations, as well as UN and US government KLM MD agencies. Brookes holds a BA in Biology from Skidmore College and a master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from Boston University. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras (’01-’03).
In addition to serving on the VCS Board, where Brookes chairs the Trustees and Governance Committee, she is a member of the Speed Art Museum Board of Trustees – having chaired its Engagement Committee and currently leading its Trustee Governance Committee – as well as the Board of the Kentucky Executive Mansion Foundation.
