Chums Program
The Chums program is available before and after school on days that school is in session. While there is some flexibility, the Chums option is for students needing an extended school schedule on an ongoing basis.
Options are morning 7:30-8:30 a.m. and afternoon 3:00-5:30 p.m.
Before and After School Program components include:
Mixed-age free play offers a unique richness that fosters creativity and social development among children. In these vibrant settings, younger children can learn from their older peers, observing their play styles and problem-solving strategies. This natural mentorship not only boosts the confidence of the younger ones but also reinforces the leadership skills of the older kids.
During playtime in the Funroom or on the playground, children engage in imaginative scenarios that are often enhanced by their varied perspectives and experiences. As they navigate their interactions—whether climbing, building, or storytelling—their relationships deepen, promoting empathy and cooperation.
Additionally, the relaxed atmosphere during snack time, where organic milk or water is provided, allows for meaningful conversations to thrive, encouraging children to express their thoughts and ideas. This blend of structured and unstructured time cultivates a supportive community, making mixed-age free play an invaluable part of their daily routine. It’s more than just play; it’s a foundation for lifelong social skills and friendships.
