I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, and moved to Louisville at a very young age. I graduated Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have 26 years of preschool teaching experience and am looking forward to my first year teaching at Chance. From the moment I stepped onto this beautiful campus, I became excited to see how a child will flourish in this wonderful environment.
I am fortunate to have a job where my love for children is expressed every day. I believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences that pique their interest and spark their curiosity. The progressive education approach incorporates exploration, curiosity, and discovery through hands-on experiences, where children help shape the curriculum. A fun learning environment that promotes independence and a love for the outdoors is such an exciting way for them to learn and grow. The beautiful and varying landscapes on the campus provide broad opportunities for learning to take place and enhance the growth of each child. Experiencing this with peers helps them develop socially and fosters the skills they need to work together as problem solvers. I enjoy supporting and encouraging them in all areas of development. What a reward it is as a teacher to see the joy the children express when they are proud of their accomplishments! Every child is a gift, every child is precious, and every child is unique.
I look forward to helping them flourish in this wonderful, nurturing environment and helping mold them into caring, capable, and confident human beings.
I have a husband of 23 years and two daughters, ages 19 and 13. We enjoy being a part of their sports activities, and my husband enjoys volunteering as a coach. I love spending quality time with family and friends, traveling, and caring for our numerous pets!
