Fifth Grade Teacher

I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Cincinnati. I also obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in teaching Math and Science, both from Utah State University. I was born and raised in the beautiful Reno/Tahoe Area and moved to Louisville a few years ago.

I am entering my fifth year of teaching and have been very privileged to have taught at exceptional schools in my short career. I was hired as an outdoor adventure teacher in my first year of teaching, which really shaped me as an educator. Each day was spent outside learning through hands-on meaningful experiences and through the help of community experts and the beautiful landscape around us. When I moved to Louisville, I searched for a school that would continue to push and challenge me as an educator, and Chance School is absolutely that place. I feel beyond honored to be a part of such an educated, talented, and passionate team of teachers.

Chance School echoes my philosophy beautifully and is a wonderful place for students, families, and teachers. I am a huge advocate for developmentally appropriate practice, authentic learning experiences, uplifting student voices and choices, and learning through play. I firmly believe that the classroom and learning should be rooted in joy and that teachers should learn alongside and from their students.  I strive to create a classroom community founded in inclusion and empathy.

In my free time from teaching (and in my husband's, Austin’s, rare time off from dental school), you can find us exploring Louisville and other surrounding cities.  We are avid foodies and love to try new restaurants and explore the parks and nature around the city! I am also a movie lover and try to hit the theater a couple of times a month. If not out, you’ll catch me making up recipes in the kitchen, choreographing a new dance routine in my living room, or snuggling with my fur baby, my very fat cat Millie (affectionately nicknamed moo moo).
