Tate Crenshaw

I attended and graduated from Kentucky State University with my Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education with a minor in coaching in 2015. I am a Louisville native who attended and graduated from duPont Manual High School. 

After graduating from Kentucky State, I decided to pursue a path in sports administration. I started my sports administration career as a Sports League Supervisor for the YMCA. After a year with the YMCA, I was promoted to the Sports Coordinator, where I oversaw all league activities, facility rentals, staff management, outsourced officials, and jersey purchases. In 2019 I accepted a position as a Sports Recreational Manager for Whitney M. Young Job Corps. While at Whitney, I managed and oversaw all recreational activities, including weekly off-center field trips, student job employment, and SGA. I also led all athletic events and was the head basketball coach. In 2020 I was looking for a career change, so I moved back to Louisville to try my hand in the school system for JCPS as a substitute teacher. 

Learning that my passion was for not only teaching children but sports administration as well, I began to look for a new opportunity. Seeing an opening and opportunity to do both, I applied to work here at Chance School, I am so glad I did. With my background as a former athlete and coach, I loved the principal idea of helping students become good students and good people. I feel that this belief aligns with mine because I believe that a person is more than just the education that they receive and that developing their voice will give them significant advantages in life.

I bring five years of experience working in sports management and youth development to Chance School. I support and coach all students through a rich and fun experience in P.E. and bring all of what I have learned to build a sports program that will give all students something they can find they enjoy participating in.

When I am not at Chance School, you can find me either playing basketball or working out in the gym. I also enjoy going to parks, the Library, and church.

My passion is to teach, empower, and encourage young people and help them develop life knowledge and skills. To motivate young people is to enable them to empower themselves as serviceable well-rounded, strong, productive people. To treat and love others with respect is an act of empowerment. These committed actions lead young people to days of being great teacher leaders in their communities.
