Preschool Twos Teacher

I am originally from Huntsville, AL. I came to Louisville and received a degree in Sociology and a minor in Communications. I worked in the corporate world for a while, then returned to school and earned a Nursing Degree. I am currently working on my Masters in Social Work. This will be my tenth year of teaching in early childhood education.

I joined the Virginia Chance community in 2020 and was immediately mesmerized by the palpable enthusiasm and curiosity of the students and teachers and the stunning, natural campus. Each day in the two’s offers something new for the students and me—be it witnessing a child discovering something outside, about themselves, or tackling a unique challenge together. I believe each child is capable of doing things by themselves and love to watch them build confidence as they try new things.

When we, as teachers, emphasize play and discovery, it sparks our young learners’ sense of wonder and inspiration. We allow their interests and curiosity about the world around them to shape the curriculum. The emphasis on socialization and collaboration with peers encourages our young learners to be confident and caring members of our school community. Virginia Chance is also a wonderful place to learn and grow as a teacher!

My husband, Dan, and I have four children. We enjoy going to their games, traveling and swimming.  I also enjoy gardening, reading, and learning new things.
