August Gatson

I received my Master of Education (MEd) degree in Higher and Post-Secondary Education from Arizona State University and my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Cal-State University of Northridge.

During my first job at an independent K-12 school post-undergrad, I realized my love for working with students and fellow educators who shared the same passion for helping to create an environment of lifelong learners. That was over ten years ago, and since then, I have held many administrative/ teaching and financial roles in secondary and higher education. 

Here at Chance School, I am amazed by the collaboration and active learning among all staff, teachers, and students. It is truly a special place! Chance has felt like home in such a short time, and I’m excited to continue growing and learning in a diverse community. 

My husband Brandon and I have two daughters, Eva (4 years old), who attends Chance, and Zoe (1-year-old), a future “Chancer.” Brandon and I are the founders of a non-profit organization called School of Reform, so when I am not at Chance, we spend lots of time traveling from coast to coast. However, when we are not traveling, I love being outdoors. I love hiking, spending time at the park, catching a good shopping sale, or trying out new local food spots with friends. I also love organizing and planning special events.
