do you know the first time we met I think carpool is really top of my hand and just where the classroom is but now we're all superstars carpool so maybe some other things we might be able to share with you our for after-school program for parents night is coming up on September 8th with that look like and then some of the other two steps activities that are going on if we're going to text you still comfortable with what's happening at school do what you want to do that I asked you to do that I I propose we encourage you as a recently-formed or parent to to join in depend a great opportunity to meet your children's teachers of course that's the priority evening other parents and children and those are great connect connect with them and bond if you have a babysitter I can go out afterward for dinner and that's always been a highlight for me and be able to pay sure yes you can't do it. I'll just try and connect with and make plans to develop those relationships as well as the teachers can I add that to my little bit tired I apologize I can't get my video to to work so I apologize if you're looking at a screen for me but it's to Messenger Elementary and I just wanted to add to Jamie about parents night that it's a wonderful opportunity to really get a glimpse of your child day and hear the expertise from the teachers are working with your children around the big topics of what they're working on now that the routine that expectation get a taste of some of the language that our teachers are using so that you two can carry such as expected unexpected behavior in a bowl with a non-negotiable we use the vocabulary all the way down to kindergarten and so I think it will be a kind of experience for you to see their classrooms and the beginning of the war or working on some beginning literacy activities of the younger ones are older ones have already been out and doing field work their stewardship skills and every levels and offers some really fighting and opportunities for you to learn about that you're so happy to answer any more questions about that but it is so worth your time to come hope to see you all the time out of your children what do you mix a little bit of exciting to meet us here and so we're going to be gathering and the big 10-4 we started with the picnic, but that's exciting. the size of our campus we have such a beautiful campus inside and out it's kind of nice as parents we haven't always taking advantage of that Gathering space besides the classrooms and we can I get to do that too if they were there any logistical things that might be just yeah so it's very very sad go to the picnic if you were here for that where you parked over by the pond and then you'll walk over to the big tent and I'll do welcome to talk a little bit about our plan and throwing events are coming up real high level what chance has kept doing this then you walk back across the field are we to sessions if you do have two children at 2 and after I after I speak you could go to your first child class around they have a pause and go to the second child's classroom if you're feeling like it's going to be a rush night Emily Ford as my room parents organized a Papa John's night so you can swing by Papa John's any Papa John's get pizza for the kids, like you said just be that all things are going on to school in the classroom he said you have to go out with something folks in your class and just have a nice date night what parents like is not the time for conferences so you won't really hear much about your specific tiled I'll just pretty here I like to talk to good bad the ugly of that specific age group what are the effects of behaviors what are the developmental Milestones that you look for both socially emotionally and academically during that grade level do you like this kind of learn what the Rhythm what year is going to be like in the classroom and what you might anticipate for your child development look like so I see that our teachers are really experts and all that they do and such a great resource on for us and they'll just be presenting on that that evening oh and you also have a chance if you do have just one child a chance our specialist also reading presentation to if you want to learn a little more about art music science that kind of working you guys have any questions about parents night or anything he likes to know before you get here alright not we can make me want to topics that might be thinking about a picnic that we're doing on the whole week on the 12th but on the 15th we're going to picnic we can come eat with your child and spend time here on campus the night before and we're going to have a little gelato of kickoff event if you want to after dinner head over to Frankfort Avenue Auto Place did the car have some fun spirit week so I have something fun every week Wednesday is the problem for the picnic you can order from Chicken Salad Chick on Shelbyville Road and Noble liver for you here and that's super easy so that's one less thing you have to worry about so who's really tries to make the weak fun and easy and just in time for connection and open philanthropy any questions about anything going on during our week any questions related to your child day I guess we'll probably hear more about it and at the parents and I but I have no idea what Cooper does all day other than tell me about chickens and bunnies but I'm happy to wait until then to hear about it that really is sick this morning and he was throwing ball in the lot negotiating with other kids about what they're going to do your thing has been call Lance and his class play I'm pretty lucky in my my role and in my position here in the building then I get to encounter those Children's Group at play and see them there's so much learning that goes on during and after everything's out together is it's really compelling I think they believe that the play is the work of children small object or when they're many objects or if you object I think when children place joyful but there's so much intention behind everything that we put out because I hear oh unmute Ono bike okay well I'll talk to you in a little bit I'm address for elementary so I'm I don't I'm so sorry Brian that I don't know you're cute Cooper but in general terms and while play is the the learning of children because there's so much negotiating and navigating and trafficking of children turn work together on building something to give you a broader view of his day which will be touched on most likely at the parents right session is his day is filled with a better place where he's going to have free choice to move different invitations at the teacher to put out for the children to floor and over really intentional deficient in their lesson plans that are tapping into all the different modalities of children social emotional work is going to be work manipulative building boarding a lot of outdoor I mean our program is not just in the classroom you know it's a much broader campus outside of the flooring for children at home and at school they have some structure time with adult Direction but also the office has a lot of time without adult interaction or Interruption if you will where they are exploring freely and children among their peers so just a really good reminder of that structure a child stay and sort Ted talk about that during the day whether it released if you will from teacher directed type of activities or group Gathering which are all really important to follow a group that we also and make sure the children have time to follow their own plan and be creative and happens every time where they built a step out of the way and be observers so those are some of the and one thing I got my microphone that current research is showing about outdoor places typically is it's really helping children to learn their own bodies the whole self-awareness or self-regulation there with assessing so much more than they would on a traditional tight play structures so this outdoor nature play that we set up here is specific so that not only are we observed during how our children are developing but we're also allowing them to figure out their own development and what their own risk and their own body is doing and so there's a lot of support there and then every piece of time that they have outside world and support any of the warning that happens inside so that's another piece I'll add to that I had another comment well it's just a sissy bar new family to make sure that you are aware of the letter that you get at the end of each week classroom what it looks like in the green have a really big trip for them come for new new student day they is it a different way when they make the big trip from their classroom down the stairs and usually work Ramon dirty for them that then ends up in a really find exciting place but definitely make sure that you read those newsletter when you get them the email from Olivia every week at the school with covers all the events that are going on in school and things action items for you that you want to be aware of and I am in the newsletter to from your classroom teachers as a member of the community of that classroom and those are even if even if you get it in your inbox and it's a busy time make sure you go back and check it out I have the pleasure of reading all of those each week and they just to keep myself informed what's going on in the school it really is truly a pleasure it's really fun to see what they're doing and and we want you to know about that and be joyful about it too Rachel I want to take my work meetings from a greenhouse moving forward 2020 20:21 so and I'm good you're welcome anytime thank you for diving that yet my son is max volume at the preschool to cuz I think he's having a great time to get involved in the school is that answer to differ for someone who's starting the preschool to his verses starting in elementary and type-2 that what is helpful for your staff with with new parents know what dude Google what are some things that you know we made May falter over as we adjust to having our children attend preschool or or start to attend Jamie. take that from a macro or I can speak to how I could have entered as a parent I was a parent first and when I yell when I came in the first thing I did is I really got together the other parents and parents nights a great time to do that is to get with the other parents in your class some of them might be repeat some of might be new they may have the same questions you do that you all can explore with the other parents or the teachers the other way to get involved I don't know if you saw during opening conferences but you can actually become a volunteer for different events and different activities on campus so that's another great way to just meet other people and to work together on a team for something that is needed on campus or towards an event so those are the two top waste as a new parent that I would recommend and I'm sure Jamie has others I would definitely I second that and I think my best advice is not to be too shy to say it your yard by yard either or either in any of those things are appropriate and you can I'll bring some snacks or we'll just order pizza perfect everybody's raised in young children my father-in-law's favorite saying is trying to clean your house while raising young children like eating Oreos while you brush your teeth and I think of it often because it just shows the utility Riley nobody's is it going to have problems in their house in their car when you're raising young children but we're raising children together and that's something that is a way that you natural connection that you have people so even if you don't know much about them at all the fact that you have young children together sharing space and time is usually connection play but you know you don't have to have the entire class maybe once a month for casual play date and and pretty soon there will be people that you are a part of your village I'm just going to add more towards the second part of your question Andy in November and then 2023 you'll see the parent Ed classes being offered some of them will be offered. I've heard it's on 52 and Lisa I would think definitely definitely definitely Ed classes to still talk a lot about happy and positive discipline and the living is when the parents are using the line was at home and we're using the same language that makes a really consistent environment for and I think for new parents pain and that lawn between I'm not saying maybe to permissive that I'm sending expectation like what is that look like to get Freedom with boundaries and said expectations and have Pacific type of conversation with a child that attending classes where were you in the group plan now or the clock says or die unexpected Behavior or let's get a plan and then I think they're like to look at where the class be in a house have a family meeting with an agenda cookies are really beautiful and model that I think ahead of time if you have the opportunity and we do have a lot of events schedule this year and excited about that we haven't been able to do some of them in the last couple of years so almost every couple weeks there's an event or that connects people in school and you're showing up for this meeting as one of those one of the topics can I connect with people and certainly coming for program night and your children are too most of your children are too young to be running cross-country but it's still kind of a fun to be a fun afternoon depending on how you got that fall festival coming up in October and that's family for laying in a bed that you and your flooring from carpet to meet volunteer you can come out if you want to share specific skills or be involved in a specific way tell me where does a parent find a volunteer form you can find it on our website I think most people have heard this on the website and in the middle of the day list of things you can get their calendars sign up for various things the parent handbook Etc the volunteer form Under the Pier under Campus Life Pennywise Tiffany haha I feel out of my child's parents on here who who how old is everybody doing a little bit of insight to what our Jump program looks like I know Brian and you mentioned you were talking about the bunnies in the rabbit and I will say a lot of the kids and the Jump program they do have very specific things that they like to do and that's okay in these processes they're using their imagination they're building their kind of building and working on those my motor skills is over and spent yesterday with Cooper Cooper's on the hotspot Cooper used his words use his voice I heard him say he didn't ask me for any help and I heard him say it's my turn to use the truck as I just kind of continued to listen and just kind of look at how he was taking leadership in that moment he didn't have to come tell her he was able to kind of produce his language in his words to say hey it's my turn and then when that child kind of refuse that's when I stepped in and said unless we're going to share if I think we need to take him to and just be mindful that even in these situations the kids are always burn it not just the kids but even ourselves I've been seeing in Trump's just a lot of problem solving assessing risk we are pretty rude cartels program so there's not a lot of transitions at all which I do keeps us safe and just keeps us together some parents have been doing an excellent job in the mornings with drop off in the afternoon traffic so far is very very sick I just wrote a couple more things now that I've been witnessing that I would like to share with you my parents there's been a lot of team building with the littles and the bigger kids and so we are all together it's all I have the big kids want to help the little kids they want to help them I'm up and get on the monkey bars and want to help them try to get their legs up and so we've been having a lot of assistance and help and then before you know it the little kids are kind of doing it on your own we've also been seeing a lot of independent work some of the little kids don't want him they may not need a friend in the moment they get in the sandbox you're having a good time and we do a lot of our routine don't shift a lot of our activities because like I said in those my kids are using their imagination their hair that's what the after-school program is pretty much all about as it continues for the weather to drop and we get into cooler temperatures we will be indoors more often we will be using the fun room as a space we also may be using classroom and that's where we make you a couple more activities like holiday arts and crafts board games and different things and I think the back if you have it questions now thank you all give me I will ask which some availability look like before morning and in the afternoon is there a sister just think through our own personal schedules and others may be thinking through that as well we're fully equipped and so we have openings. doesn't mean that space is lost skill quickly but right now we have opened if you want to do a drop in and you don't want to kind of state yourself schedule you'll just email me and you could see see the office but you email me at Chum are School. Org and then we'll be able to pick you up from there availability right now is pretty open we got about 5 staff in the afternoon and maybe about three to four staff in the morning we do have all ages right now too stupid we love Maxwell I haven't been late yet but I'm right on that cost of the 520 time frame that really Max that's alright he's having a good time I'll jump in with one another question is I know one that has logos for Progressive education Network and a couple other organizations I'd be interested to hear learn more about those Oregon hear more about those organizations and then they're you know real chance works with those organizations best to hear music what are the ones will still there is ice ax and that's our credit and body and so there's a six-year from there different picture of cycle of how they come in and just to let you know doing what you say you're doing and then no make recommendations and it went really well to our strategic plan that was just a governing body that make sure that we continue to do what we we do with the school that's called ice packs and I meet with them regularly they offer a lot of professional I'll go to a conference in January and the South and the West as I sent the other one they seem and Licensing so we are also under preschool licensing so a lot of what we do is based on what we are required to do by licensing and terms or snack do we have a preschool license body as well at work we are progressive and school there are several of them in the country to know about if you want to learn more about the effects of high school interact with and I just wanted to add that it's really important that we are accredited and then add dinner staff member as an opportunity to document all the different ways to educate children so we talked about whole Child Learning we are documenting social emotional physical gross motor and then literacy math and science and social studies and then read all of our documentation interviewed they come for a visit 67 years and meet with all the teachers in interview of your classrooms and to Betsy point to make sure that everything we've written matches in our practice daily practice so it's really important for school to here to do timelines they do have standards that we have to meet with great accountability to keep our school at the top of the list for really strong Progressive School for Children if you work here you work hard and if you are hired here it's because you're one of the best teachers are top-notch eye specialist credible not only do they have expertise in their own Fields but they also extend answer to the outdoor music and arts and all the different ways do it really important practice it's a lot of work but it's probably important but thank you for asking the other organizational we are persuaded to take kais Kentucky Association of Independent Schools and nose call Bart once you've probably heard of Collegiate tcd Walnut of Hall's to all the Independent Schools were part of that organization and we also meet again for me right now about once a week the check yet and just to make sure we're sort of all that haven't been more conversations and sharing resources and just partnering where we can so that's another great organization that were part of find a question about the specialist and sort of the month-long segments that go along with that whether the plan is to continue our sitting is that car came about covid restrictions on separation and that sort of thing but I wondered if that the plan was to continue that and all respects with with a specialist particularly concerned about in thinking you know that's kind of a better as an ongoing building thing that continues and just what the thinking is about keeping that and some of the others is out 1 months long call Rebecca that's a great question and you are correct that before covid and the pandemic and some of the restrictions that came with that our Specialists are seven of them and I'm classroom would visit each specialist Dorado week for about 40 minutes once a week and then when we realize that too much think that that plan and so we partnered them up and and feel some really beautiful things happened in that experience that we discovered as adult learner that's what you match science with art or music with Spanish environment with. when you pair those up you start thinking beyond your own lens and again we see ourselves as learner so it really invited a lot of collaboration and cooperation among us as adults and the monthly Focus what we all go that experience was the deeper dive if we were able to take the children so inexperienced or question that came up in a class A lot of to go back the very next day and address that question in a deeper way or project setting call otherwise children were coming back to the classroom until the next week and we also have 7:40 so it's a longer. Of time and also the roof their voices get hurt more their ability to have more active participation and for the teachers to do more collaboration just with height and beyond measure and so everybody will tell you that every year we look at different HARP program and say the what's working well what feels hard and this year spring I did the same with the specialist we were moving out of that we talked about all right. About all the things kind of guidelines because voices came through like but then we also when we looked at our list of the positive outcome that was surprising to us sometimes you just I get to work and do your work so it's a little stretching to work with another attempt when you're not used to doing that every classroom training allows for them to do a lot of fat that's beautiful what was just magical so we looked at probably six different scheduled last spring because while least and I are directors of programs we do not direct outcome we invite and work alongside our teachers are there are the questions and discussion and get answers from them about what was best for them and it is our job but the methodology behind it but I do have poison contribution to that it was decided to continue because they felt that while there are some snacks in your example Spanish maybe more often throughout the year that it outweighed in such a big way the actual experience and process learning that is more long-term for children that they can transfer to all are and if so it's more about how we teach rather than how many likes can spell cabanne words you have in the elementary-aged which is an exposure time frame that just allows more for a more integrated learning answers yes thanks to you're welcome cuz I'm noticing that a little after 12 and we kind of want to keep this a half an hour 45 minutes.
