Usher yeah thanks for accepting the invitation I'm from pre-school to elementary school all right so freaking wanted to touch on what will feel the same of the continuity of our overall program from preschool to are class sizes typically range from that 18 to 22 are there self-contained meaning some Elementary pass analyze this teacher from that where are teachers teach everything are we are still whole Child Focus meeting we're looking at the development but also social emotional skills and your child we are assessing all of those earrings rabbit everyday you still continue to and focus heavily on creating to our language with how we interact with students are perceptions of making sure they feel capable significance we have a assessment that have died her instructions and check progress for your children we have standards and benchmarks and Milestones if I just came through 5 everybody gets to go to specialist in elementary we have seven specialist art music Sia Library so everybody will have that opportunity those are monthly rotation so they will be with one specialist for a full month the daily schedule for elementary is 8:30 to 3 and we still offer after school Chums and enrichment opportunity do all those things used to be K1 together first grade second and third and fourth and fifth this last week piloted a program of straight K after lots of conversation with her kindergarten for K-12 teachers about the significance of having because she is told in her transitioning how is that for a year and then this year is it side by side we still have to come see Sally multi-age there's so much Beauty to multi-age we want our students to have that experience as well and so our first and second grade children are together and forth and then we really wanted to our program when you have for kindergarteners and they will head outside and then we'll move into a I'm going to come back to literacy and dated but it does involve assessing your children teach no matter where you go to school for so you have fluency vocabulary development phonemic awareness and phonics and all these little kindergarten our workers mostly around foundation and there are two there are two instructional Pathways that you can use for that here at JB's. One is structured literacy sometimes referred to as the science of reading if you are interested around almost there. once you have more automaticity with the phonemic awareness and phonics then you can move into leveled literacy which is a book that match her reading your becoming readers and then have a little bit more richness to the content and therefore can build your fluency or rate of reading expression build your vocabulary and then get to be for comprehension but we're going to focus a little bit more on the structure literacy so before we get into the work of literacy we want to know about you so at the beginning of the school 4 everybody has to have this solidified the areas we want to know of so concept of Prince Do they have any sense of how to fold sounds great faces but beginning line I just want you to know that we start with their names but just know that that's very for free so along with the structured literacy like I said these are the foundational skills and it's usually around they are different they are commonly thought of it as being one in the same and different words rafting or a letter symbol visual understanding and auditory sound phonemic awareness is not on it although they are often confused Sonic's referred to letter sound relationship during systematic phonics instruction letter combinations phonics instruction is both Visual and auditory at students work with can you make awareness and phonics are both absolutely but it is important to understand phonemic awareness and phonics enjoy a typical relationship however if a child is laughing but it's instruction Arena where the training provides the foundation on which phonics instruction to children need solid phonemic awareness training for it to be effective if you receive and the majority of his time has been play Young you could do letters and numbers very well and it's all gone completely all gone now he hasn't focused on now he's aroused and running and doing more activities like that has moved away from being I'm interested in that and I'm wondering if you think that also doesn't color it and book it book and I'm just wondering if you I've noticed that as well and I think that and he's going to be in school for much of and so doesn't have much interest in coloring or or drawing and I think what I'm getting them at a lot of that is practice right and so that development I think that there's something that you know as parents we should be doing to get them ready is there a Subway that we can get them development ready for this large change to work academic Focus very creative but now he just making up stuff and so what I'm wondering is back so that it's not such a big ship Elementary is it a more structured from preschool that's why I play and research base play is such a to build stamina I want to really emphasize what I'm here today so that's why I I feel a bit more today we don't have it's not bad at all I moved from the state to another space in this building so we are very detailed and should there be a shift to help get wet that's what I've done here to put the college textbooks get outside and enjoy yourself I thought the first.. Kindergarten how we as parents learn child or do we wait until the progress report the child would have a public school so that's it right there and I think Republic schools are really berries from school I think you must lie about that slowness and just like kind of letting the child late I'm guessing. they are 3 minutes behind anybody else wonderful Donnington grade Middle School directors constantly call us and say here's what we love about your students because but what I hear from them a little bit more important you're sharing information and somebody Barbie cars with the lion. the video on the website where we actually have a panel discussion with parents of Bruce Willis and ask them what their experiences their Impressions were from their from their children's perspective they found us a variety of schools and they spoke about about how they had transitioned from chance into I want a different environment one thing I can tell you that I heard from all of this parents but it's that for the word self-advocates and if I think it's really important I don't have to call a teacher intervene on their behalf they really believe that their teachers are there to support them and be available to help how to do things better we can pull that video up and share with you. what time is it we have a few support plan in system in place it is a secured systems are one two and three tier one or combination that we might make in the classroom that might be their child have accommodation for child during work time this comes from pokeworld but we have purchased them on our own so just the texture of sitting on this cushion of the child at 10 R1 all trained and Fel work that happened in the classroom . that's beyond our training course so that would be a sample working with Kathy to support where they would work with her maybe for 30 minutes every day at the painting with it we're working on it again. so that could be more than 10 I know that we we have two side-by-side corporate for teachers to Annie's classroom Lindsay has probably been here the longest I think 13 years she's also taught fifth grade she taught preschool over the years thinkayta I don't have a lot of turnover clearing height I'm surprised that your public speaking but I think that's really really important for whatever occupation you land in because you need to have it takes a lot of practice it's one of the biggest fears public speaking pure and social evaluation and it's important for any occupation I think that that they let you have and it's amazing because if I remember going back only after people shy away and avoid it yeah we are at school of asking you to relive their responses from children we want them to use their voice the component of the later parts of Elementary and I know who he may want to see you a little bit more find a watch party
