Supply List

 
With Virginia Chance School’s inclusive tuition structure, most of the fees for student supplies have been incorporated into the tuition so that families can accurately budget and plan for their child’s educational expenses. Labeling is important for all items that come into the school- please make this a priority for all your items. Please reference this list when preparing for the upcoming school year:

All PRESCHOOLERS  

  1. A complete change of clothes with all items labeled in a clear plastic baggie labeled with your child’s name, appropriate for the current weather. Update as the seasons change. 

  2. Rain Boots, labeled inside (less likely to rub off), rain jacket and Rain Pants or Rain Suit, each item labeled with your child’s name. 

  3. Water bottle- stainless steel or BPA free plastic, labeled with your child’s name.

  4. Packages of diapers and wipes labeled (if your child uses them and we will notify you when to replenish your child’s supply).

  5. Small blanket and a crib-size fitted sheet for rest time (if your child is in the full-day program), labeled with your child’s name.

  6. Lunch box and snack container labeled with your child’s name. We suggest: Yumbox and Snack Containers found on Amazon. Please provide an ice pack for the lunchbox and a thermos for food/soup or other liquids you would like to keep warm for lunch.  For utensils, we suggest: Silverware Set  Interlocking Set both also found on Amazon including other similar low waste options.

KINDERGARTEN

  1. A  "big kid" backpack- without wheels, labeled with name (regular size that will fit a 9x12 folder, lunchbox, water bottle, and towel (Room 17 needs a towel each day)

  2. Family picture

  3. Completely rubber rain boots (no cloth inside or outside), labeled inside (less likely to rub off) such as Kids’ Handle It Rain Boot - Crocs 

  4. 2 Child-sized bath or beach towels (50"x24") to send back and forth to school for cleaning on Mondays. (Room 17 only)

  5. Water bottle- stainless steel or BPA free plastic, and labeled with name. Please send filled with water every morning.

  6. A complete change of clothes in a clear plastic baggie labeled with your child’s name, appropriate for the current weather. Several extra pairs of socks. Update as the seasons change.

  7. Lunch box, labeled with your child’s name:  Looking to reduce lunch packing waste? We suggest: Yumbox  or  Bees Wrap  both also found on Amazon including other similar low waste options. Be sure that the lunch box or lunch box thermal carrier size will also accommodate a daily snack choice for your child. Please provide an ice pack for the lunchbox and a thermos for food/soup or other liquids you would like to keep warm for lunch.  For utensils, we suggest: Silverware Set or Compact Set, both found on Amazon including other similar low waste options. 

  8. Extra forks and spoons to be kept in your child’s backpack in a labeled Ziploc bag or pouch. As a Green and Healthy School, we do not provide plasticware.

  9. Labeled headphones in a labeled ziploc bag.

PRIMARY 1 & 2

  • Headphones

INTERMEDIATE 3 & 4

  1. Backpack - without wheels, with name (regular size that will fit folders, lunchbox, and more)

  2. Rain Boots, labeled inside (less likely to rub off)

  3. Water bottle- stainless steel or BPA free plastic, and labeled with name

  4. 4  3-hole punched folders for binder

  5. 1 inch binder

  6. Lunch box, labeled with your child’s name:  Looking to reduce lunch packing waste? We suggest: Yumbox or Bees Wrap  both also found on Amazon including other similar low waste options. Be sure that the lunch box size will also accommodate a daily snack choice for your child. Please provide an ice pack for the lunch box and a thermos for food/soup or other liquids you would like to keep warm for lunch.  For utensils, we suggest: Silverware Set or Compact Set, found on Amazon including other similar low waste options.

  7. Headphones or Earbuds for Chromebooks labeled and in a ziploc bag

  8. A complete change of clothes in a clear plastic baggie labeled with your child’s name, appropriate for the current weather. Update as the seasons change.

Fifth Grade

  1. Backpack without wheels, with name (regular size that will fit folders, lunchbox, and more)

  2. Rain Boots, labeled inside (less likely to rub off)

  3. Water bottle- stainless steel or BPA free plastic, and labeled with name

  4. 7 poly/vinyl style folders with pockets at the bottom 

  5. 2 pkg #2 pencils (12 ct each- suggests Ticonderoga brand)

  6. 1 pkg of 12 colored pencils (Crayola preferred)

  7. Pencil pouch, labeled with name
